Hello Cyclist.
Spring has sprung and April 1st is next week. Our usual rides are on tap for next week.
One of our new rides is now live on Meet Up: The Lucky Hill Ride lead by Nate Nassif will focus on climbing to get ready for events such as The 719 Ride and Cycle to the Summit. This will be a weekly Sunday afternoon ride beginning April 13th.
A few other new rides are in the works for this year. We are introducing a Wednesday evening social ride starting May 28th. A once a month (for now) Saturday Morning Gravel Ride will start April 12th. Also in the works are a Women’s Ride and mountain bike rides, details of which are being worked out and no start date has been made yet.
Colorado Springs Cycling Club will undergo a name change. The “club” wants to apply for 501(c)(3) tax status and as such has to drop “club” from our name. There are financial benefits to the club and individuals and organization that donate funds to us. A future email will be coming out for you to vote on the two proposed names: “Colorado Springs Cycling” and “COS Cycling”.
Our club is raising its dues. Beginning April 1st, 2025, dues will increase $30 per year for individuals and $50 per year for families (two adults and any children living in the household). The last time dues were increased was 2016.
As mentioned above, we have some new rides in the works. These rides, like all of our rides are dependent on ride leaders and we are looking for more. Our next ride leader training is scheduled for May 3rd. Please reach out to Sara Hill if interested at sleonahill@yahoo.com
And now for some tidbits:
The annual Ride of Silence will be held Wednesday, 21 May at 7:00 PM. This is a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways, and to raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists. Click the link below for more information.
Finally, as a reminder, if you are going to attend one of our club rides or events, please sign up on Meet Up. This lets the ride leader or event creator know of your intent to participate and if you are running late, the ride leader may, at their discretion, wait for you and or try to contact you before the ride starts. Also, if the ride is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances at the last minute, the ride leader can reach out to the individual participants to let them know. Finally, if no one has registered for a ride by 8 PM the night before, the ride may likely become a “show and go.”

Note: With the uncertain weather pattern of the season, a ride may become a "show and go” or canceled. The leader will update the Meetup event. The group that shows then agrees where to go together. Be prepared with a sign-in sheet. Instructions for where to send the sign-in sheet after the ride are at the bottom of the sign-in sheet.
Thanks for reading.
