Colorado Springs Cycling Club |
Since we are in Colorado, we have borrowed our difficulty designations from the well known ski trail markers of green, blue, blue/black and black.
Green: Rides about 5 to 20 miles with an average speed around 8 mph and fairly flat terrain. No-drop rides use a leader-and-sweep system, ensuring no one is left behind and the group regularly regroups.
Blue: No-drop rides about 10 to 25 miles with an average speed around 8-11 mph and some rolling terrain – elevation gain not more than 1,000 ft.
Blue/Black: No-drop rides about 15 to 40 miles with an average speed around 11-13 mph and some hilly terrain – elevation gain greater than 1,000 ft.
Black: Rides about 20 to 80 miles and steeper than Blue/Black with an average speed based on the abilities of the riders. You set your own pace and should be prepared to be a self-sufficient. Riders of similar abilities are encouraged to ride together.
See our list of upcoming rides on the CSCC Ride Calendar (on Meetup).
