Hello Cyclist.

First, thanks to all who came out for the Annual Progressive Dinner Ride. We had 19 riders and the weather held out as long as it could. As the riders departed the last stop, a few drops of rain landed. A great turnout with good food and camaraderie.

Join us 8 May at 6 PM for our first Adopt a Trail clean up. Colorado Springs Cycling has adopted a section of trail and we need volunteers. This work is an opportunity to take an active role in the beautification of our local parks and trails. The section of trail is along the south part of Shooks Run Trail from Pikes Peak Ave to Fountain Blvd. It is one mile in length. We will meet twice a month through October as weather permits. Link to sign up is below.

The Monday Night Dinner Ride is back! Come out for a casual, hour or so long ride and then hang out at one of the restaurants at University Village for a meal and conversation. The riders will gather in the parking lot in front of Panera Bread. The ride will start at 5:15 PM so be there a few minutes early to get ready. Sign up link below.

The annual Ride of Silence will be held Wednesday, 21 May at 7:00 PM. This is a silent procession to honor cyclists who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roadways and to raise awareness that cyclists have a legal right to share the road with motorists. Click the link below for more information. Volunteers are also needed. Click here to register to volunteer.

On 26 May, we are invited to join the first annual combined group ride from the Buffalo Lodge with SoCo Velo, the Buffalo Tribe and COS Racing.  There will be three distances/levels for all experience levels.  This is a social ride, no drop with a sweep. Please wear your CSCC team jersey to this event.

And now for some tidbits:

Join our private Strava club https://www.strava.com/clubs/colorado-springs-cycling-club It’s a great way to see and encourage your fellow club mates.

We need ride leaders. Email Sara Hill at sleonahill@yahoo.com if you would like more information.

As a reminder, if you are going to attend one of our club rides or events, please sign up on Meet Up. This lets the ride leader or event creator know of your intent to participate and if you are running late, the ride leader may, at their discretion, wait for you and or try to contact you before the ride starts. Also, if the ride is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances at the last minute, the ride leader can reach out to the individual participants to let them know. Finally, if no one has registered for a ride by 8 PM the night before, the ride may likely become a “show and go.”

With the uncertain weather pattern of the season, a ride may become a "show and go” or canceled. The ride leader will update the Meetup event. The group that shows then agrees where to go together. Be prepared with a sign-in sheet. Instructions for where to send the sign-in sheet after the ride are at the bottom of the sign-in sheet.

Thanks for reading.
